Ranger's Apprentice 12

    
     The 12th book of the Ranger's Apprentice series has been out for multiple months now, and I just now finally got around to reading. Now this book, it took me over for the three days that I spent reading it. Now for those of you who read every book you start within one or two days, I'm not like that. I normally take a few weeks to read a good book. I'm not really the reading type. I'd rather be watching TV or be out playing sports than read many books. The difference between this book and most others, even in the same series, is that there is so much that is unexpected, and it differentiates this book from others in its series. It just makes you want to keep reading all the time.
     The author does such a great job including suspense, imagery, and sheer awesomeness in every part of the book, I feel like I am actually witnessing the events in the book in first person (not that I'd really actually like that. I'd probably be dead by now, but, you know...). The characters are so well defined and developed, and the plot is great. So, here's a little background. Will, the main character for the last 11 books, has a tragedy in his life. He gets upset, and his career as a Ranger gets put at stake. Gillan and Halt decide he needs an apprentice to cheer him up and give him a little responsibility to take his mind off of things. This book is about Will with his new apprentice. Now I'm not saying that this is absolutely the best book in the world. I'm not saying that this kind of book would be absolutely amazing for everybody. And I'm definitely not saying that you should read all 11 books before this just so you can too witness the pure euphoria that this book puts you in... Haha! Who am I kidding. Yes I am.

    

New Book

I decided to start reading a new book. Yes that does mean that I am abandoning the Red Pyramid. It hasn't really been as interesting as other books by Rick Riordan. I tried and got past page 100, but I couldn't keep going. Now, I'm going to read the 12th book in the Ranger's Apprentice series. The title is The Royal Ranger. I've already read the other 11 books and they were by far my favorite book series ever. Now, the series has been concluded in this last book, and I'm looking forward to reading it.

The series in general is about a young boy named Will who becomes the apprentice of the infamous ranger Halt. Rangers are like a special military force for a medieval country, which is the setting of this book. Will goes on many adventures, some with his mentor, and some without, and this book wraps it all up. I'm both excited and disappointed, but the author, John Flanagan, does have another series that he's working on called the Brotherband Chronicles. Hopefully by the next time you see a blog I will have started reading, and I'll try not to include spoilers, though it will be hard since it's the 12th book.

Red Pyramid- Author Analysis

Rick Riordan has written three series of books so far: Percy Jackson, the Lost Hero, and the Red Pyramid (Not the series titles, but you get the gist). All of which have similar plot lines, very similar conflicts, characters, and, of course, various versions of ancient gods. Lastly, so I've heard, they will all be connected with a fourth series, which links the Egyptian series with the other two. Riordan is a great author, but I'm surprised that he is still going on with Greek and Roman gods. It takes enormous amounts of skill to be able to pull that off, but I think he will. Anyway, it seems that he is obsessed with ancient mythology, and I respect him for that. He also in two of the three series wrote about a single parent getting captured by the god of death, which I found quite interesting, but so far, I think it's working just fine.
